The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Art and Design Technology lessons that align with the National Curriculum of England.
  • Foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independent learning.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies informed by cognitive science and evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and support the professional development of the teaching team.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Participate in the school’s extra-curricular programme, including art, design, and performance activities.
  • Work closely with the Wellbeing Team to support student development and pastoral care.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and developments in Art and Design Technology education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art or a BEd with PGCE in Art.
  • Proven experience teaching in a secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art and Design Technology.
  • Experience working within a high-performing teaching team.
  • A proven track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.

Preferred

  • Experience with evidence-informed teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with cognitive science and learning theory.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to professional development initiatives.
  • Experience with instructional coaching or mentoring programmes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
