The Opportunity:

As an Assistant School Counselor, you will provide essential emotional and mental health support to students, helping them navigate social, academic, and personal challenges. This role plays a critical part in promoting positive wellbeing outcomes and ensuring every student feels supported and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling to students facing emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges.
  • Support the identification and assessment of student wellbeing needs, and contribute to targeted intervention planning.
  • Collaborate with pastoral, safeguarding, and teaching teams to promote student wellbeing and positive outcomes.
  • Deliver wellbeing curriculum, mental health initiatives, and awareness campaigns to students and staff.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and support case management processes.
  • Engage with parents and contribute to wellbeing workshops and communication initiatives.
  • Promote a school culture that values inclusion, resilience, and mental health awareness.
  • Support staff wellbeing initiatives and contribute to training and awareness activities.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures and work closely with wellbeing leaders to support vulnerable students.
  • Contribute to school improvement priorities and the ongoing development of wellbeing provision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Education, or a related field
  • CDA (Community Development Authority) registration/licensing as a Counsellor in Dubai (or in process of obtaining license)
  • Safeguarding and child protection training
  • Strong command of spoken and written English

Preferred

  • Additional postgraduate qualification or diploma in counselling or child/adolescent mental health
  • Experience delivering basic counselling or structured emotional wellbeing support
  • Experience working with students presenting with social, emotional, or behavioural concerns
  • Experience liaising with teachers, parents, and external professionals
  • Experience maintaining confidential records and case notes in line with professional standards
  • Experience delivering small group interventions or wellbeing programmes in an educational setting
