The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher – Teacher Development, you will lead and shape the delivery of teacher training and professional development across the school and wider community. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence and inspire the future of education, with a focus on nurturing talent and fostering excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of teacher training programs including the Early Career Teaching Programme and NPQs.
  • Provide strategic direction and vision for the Teaching School Hub and its services.
  • Collaborate with local curriculum hubs, national providers, and research institutions to enhance teacher development.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues, supporting their professional growth and career progression.
  • Develop and evaluate innovative learning strategies that align with current research and best practice.
  • Manage change and implement improvements in teaching and learning across the school.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and standards for teacher training and professional development.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align teacher development initiatives with the school’s strategic goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong academic background with QTS and experience of teaching up to A level.
  • Proven experience in mentoring or coaching colleagues.
  • In-depth understanding of teacher professional development pathways.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research and practice in learning and teaching.
  • Experience of managing change in a whole-school context.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing teacher training programs.
  • Familiarity with the role of a Teaching School Hub and its national responsibilities.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating innovative learning strategies.
  • Experience with initial teacher training (SCITT) provision.
