The Opportunity:

As a Secondary Course Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of teacher training by leading the development and delivery of secondary programs. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to influence the next generation of teachers and drive innovation in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of secondary teacher training programs across a network of schools.
  • Collaborate with the Co-Principal to steer the school’s Initial Teacher Training (ITT) provision into its next phase of growth.
  • Work closely with subject specialists, mentors, and visiting tutors to support trainee teachers.
  • Develop and deliver mentor training programs to enhance the quality of support for trainees.
  • Oversee the secondary Professional Studies provision and ensure it aligns with the school’s values and goals.
  • Take on a small teaching timetable within the school, if applicable, to maintain classroom practice and pedagogical expertise.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from trainees to senior leadership, across multiple schools.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of curriculum and pedagogy through research-informed practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a classroom teacher with a strong understanding of teacher training and education.
  • Current or recent experience working with trainee teachers as a mentor, tutor, or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage training programs and initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the core values of excellence, collaboration, support, and innovation.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development programs.
  • Knowledge of ITT issues and challenges within the education sector.
  • Experience in leading curriculum development or pedagogical innovation.
  • Familiarity with research-informed teaching practices and evidence-led education strategies.
