The Opportunity:

As a Basketball Coach, you will play a vital role in shaping students’ character through sport, helping them build confidence, resilience, and teamwork. You will work closely with the Director of Sport and the PE team to deliver high-quality training and competition experiences that align with the school’s Character Development Activities (CDA) programme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging basketball training sessions for students of all abilities.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and challenging environment that promotes teamwork and discipline.
• Collaborate with the PE team and Director of Sport to support the school’s CDA programme.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular and community activities.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
• Ensure all sessions are safe, structured, and aligned with the school’s educational goals.
• Organize and lead competitive fixtures and enrichment events.
• Promote the values of sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience coaching basketball at a competitive level.
• Strong understanding of youth development and character education through sport.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Preferred

• Experience working in an international or independent school setting.
• Familiarity with the English National Curriculum or similar educational frameworks.
• Experience in delivering extracurricular and enrichment activities.
• Leadership experience or the ability to mentor and develop student athletes.
