The Opportunity:

As a Bilingual Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of the British National Curriculum to young learners in a dynamic, high-performance environment. This role offers a unique chance to help shape the culture of a new school in Tokyo while assisting students in developing fluency in both English and Japanese.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers in delivering the British National Curriculum to students aged 3–11.
  • Act as a linguistic bridge, assisting students and facilitating communication with Japanese-speaking families.
  • Prepare learning resources, classroom displays, and maintain a purposeful learning environment.
  • Ensure student safety during breaks, outings, and school transitions.
  • Promote the wellbeing and inclusion of all students, adhering to safeguarding and behavioral policies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and colleagues across the EDUC8 Group to align curriculum delivery.
  • Assist with pastoral care and student supervision in a nurturing, supportive setting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and oral).
  • A minimum of a Diploma or equivalent in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with young children in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
  • A patient, "can-do" attitude suitable for a founding school environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a British international school or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the British National Curriculum.
  • Experience with bilingual education or language support.
  • Previous experience in a boarding or residential school setting.
