The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a KS1 & KS2 Class Teacher to join its founding team in Tokyo. This is a unique opportunity to shape the culture and standards of a new British international preparatory school, delivering high-quality education in a values-led environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across all areas of the KS1 or KS2 British National Curriculum.
  • Take full responsibility for the academic and pastoral development of your pupils.
  • Collaborate with bilingual Teaching Assistants to support multilingual learners and facilitate language development.
  • Participate in pre-opening development, assemblies, enrichment activities, and school events to build the school community.
  • Work closely with colleagues at other EDUC8 Group schools to ensure curriculum alignment and smooth transitions for students.
  • Promote a values-led environment that prioritises pupil wellbeing and inclusive practice.
  • Support the school's mission of providing a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous learning experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent) and degree-level education.
  • Relevant classroom experience in a primary setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to plan and deliver effective lessons.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and inclusive practice.
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit suitable for a founding school phase.

Preferred

  • Experience in an international or British curriculum school outside the UK.
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners or EAL pupils.
  • Familiarity with COBIS accreditation standards.
