The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Biology Teacher to join our dedicated Science Department. This role is central to delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire students and support their academic progress. The ideal candidate will contribute to the school’s mission of fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging Biology lessons aligned with departmental schemes of learning.
- Plan and implement effective teaching strategies that promote student achievement and motivation.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the Science curriculum.
- Act as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ academic and social development, and maintaining strong communication with parents.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the wellbeing of all students.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and promote the profile of Biology within the school.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Biology teaching, up to GCSE level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Highly organised and able to manage a busy and varied timetable.
- Experience in pastoral care and willingness to take on Form Tutor responsibilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Ability to interpret and use school data to support teaching and learning.
Preferred
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and further study.
- Strong administrative skills and knowledge of current curriculum developments.
- Experience in extracurricular activities and leadership roles.
- Reflective practitioner with a commitment to continuous improvement.
