The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Biology Teacher to join our dedicated Science Department. This role is central to delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire students and support their academic progress. The ideal candidate will contribute to the school’s mission of fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging Biology lessons aligned with departmental schemes of learning.
  • Plan and implement effective teaching strategies that promote student achievement and motivation.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the Science curriculum.
  • Act as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ academic and social development, and maintaining strong communication with parents.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the wellbeing of all students.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and promote the profile of Biology within the school.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Biology teaching, up to GCSE level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Highly organised and able to manage a busy and varied timetable.
  • Experience in pastoral care and willingness to take on Form Tutor responsibilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to interpret and use school data to support teaching and learning.

Preferred

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and further study.
  • Strong administrative skills and knowledge of current curriculum developments.
  • Experience in extracurricular activities and leadership roles.
  • Reflective practitioner with a commitment to continuous improvement.
