Boarding House Matron role at a leading institution. Support house administration and student welfare.

The Opportunity:

As a Boarding House Matron, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the boarding house and the well-being of students. You will work closely with the Houseparent and provide consistent pastoral support to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inform the Houseparent of any incidents or concerns related to the well-being of boarders.
  • Liaise with on-site health centre staff for medical advice and support.
  • Accompany pupils to medical appointments when necessary.
  • Oversee domestic duties, including the maintenance of clean and repaired clothing.
  • Manage daily laundry and coordinate with the Estates Department for requirements.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records in the House incident book.
  • Keep up-to-date records on the House bank and manage pupil pocket money.
  • Engage in all aspects of students' lives, supporting their academic, social, and personal development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or administrative role within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage emergencies when the Houseparent is unavailable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the welfare and development of young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a boarding school environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
  • Experience with student welfare and pastoral care.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours when necessary.
