The Opportunity:

As a Business Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient management of support services and operational areas, ensuring a smooth-running environment that supports the school’s educational mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead point of contact for support services, triaging daily tasks and escalating issues as needed.
  • Manage key operational areas, including estates, grounds, catering, transport, and compliance.
  • Oversee budgets for support services, ensuring financial efficiency and adherence to regulations.
  • Line manage key staff to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and prepare reports for senior leadership.
  • Support strategic initiatives and resource planning within the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Liaise with commercial colleagues to coordinate lettings and third-party use of facilities.
  • Represent the school at governance and committee meetings, presenting relevant operational updates.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in facilities/estates management, school administration, or operations management.
  • Strong budget management skills and the ability to ensure organisational processes run smoothly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems.
  • A proactive, flexible, and decisive approach to problem-solving.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • Familiarity with ISI regulations and inspections.
  • Knowledge of ‘Safer Recruitment’ practices in schools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ISAMs.
