The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Chemistry Teacher - Secondary to deliver high-quality teaching across the Secondary School and Sixth Form. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students, develop their scientific knowledge, and foster a love for Chemistry through innovative and engaging lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver outstanding Chemistry lessons that are engaging, challenging, and inclusive.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that integrate scientific inquiry, practical experiments, and real-world applications.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and digital tools to support learning and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support pupils’ academic growth.
  • Prepare pupils effectively for external examinations, including GCSE and A Level Chemistry.
  • Lead and support extracurricular activities such as science clubs, competitions, and STEM projects.
  • Inspire pupils to explore STEM pathways and careers through enrichment opportunities.
  • Contribute to pupils’ holistic development through active pastoral care.
  • Support the wider life of the school through co-curricular and enrichment activities.
  • Design engaging learning activities that deepen scientific understanding.
  • Develop high-quality, subject-specific resources.
  • Assist in sourcing and managing laboratory resources and specialist equipment.
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of the Chemistry curriculum.
  • Analyse pupil progress data and implement actions to ensure outstanding outcomes.
  • Regularly review practice and engage in continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Chemistry curriculum
  • High levels of subject knowledge
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant teaching experience
  • Experience teaching GCSE and A Level Chemistry
  • Strong practical and laboratory skills
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • A good degree in Chemistry or related field from an established university
  • Ability to inspire pupils and stretch the most able while supporting all learners
  • Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to contributing to all aspects of school life

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with English as an Additional Language
  • Experience in the independent school sector
