The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining educational standards during teacher absences. You will support students across all subjects, manage behavior, and ensure a constructive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, implementing pre-set work programmes.
  • Manage student behavior in line with the school's Consequences Policy.
  • Prepare learning environments and materials as directed by teaching staff.
  • Respond to student questions and collect completed assignments.
  • Accurately record and report lesson attendance and student behavior.
  • Assist with exam invigilation and use referral procedures to report pupil issues.
  • Organise the daily cover rota and contact supply agencies when necessary.
  • Support in the classroom as directed during periods of low cover demand.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and utilise standard ICT packages.
  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and recognising potential child welfare concerns.
  • Willingness to obtain and enhance qualifications and training.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or learning support.
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Background in exam invigilation or student supervision.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
