Cover Supervisor (Part-Time) – Support learning during teacher absences with strong classroom management skills.

The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences, supporting students and staff across a range of subjects. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, high-achieving school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, implementing pre-set work programmes.
  • Manage student behaviour in line with the school’s policies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Prepare learning environments and materials, respond to student questions, and collect completed assignments.
  • Record and report lesson attendance and student entry/exit accurately.
  • Support exam logistics by assisting in invigilation and reporting pupil behaviour or issues using referral procedures.
  • Organise daily cover rota for absent staff and contact supply agencies to arrange cover.
  • Support in the classroom as directed during periods when cover is not required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and utilise standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Capacity to relate to students in a friendly and supportive manner.
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues and willingness to report concerns.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • Willingness to obtain or enhance qualifications and participate in training and development opportunities.
