The Opportunity:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that teaching and learning continue uninterrupted when regular staff are absent. This is a dynamic and impactful position that supports student progress and contributes directly to the school’s mission of making success inevitable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes effectively in the absence of regular teachers, maintaining a calm and focused learning environment.
  • Support the school’s commitment to student progress by assisting with administrative and class-based tasks when cover is light.
  • Work collaboratively with the Cover team and Senior Leadership Team to ensure consistency and quality in all aspects of student support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture by engaging with students and staff in a professional and approachable manner.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and welfare protocols.
  • Contribute to the school’s professional development initiatives and continue to grow your skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate regularly with relevant staff and senior leaders to ensure smooth operations and timely updates.
  • Support the school’s vision of providing a high-quality education through flexible and responsive teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or teaching role, preferably within a school setting.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Flexibility to work term-time only, with hours from 8:15am to 3:15pm per week.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative.

Preferred

  • Experience in covering for absent teachers or working in a cover role.
  • Experience with the use of ICT systems and software used in schools.
  • A passion for education and a desire to contribute to the success of students and the school community.
  • Experience in a co-educational 11-16 school setting.
