The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Academics, you will play a key role in shaping the academic vision of a school, working closely with the Headmaster to drive strategic initiatives and ensure high standards of teaching and learning. This is a leadership opportunity for someone passionate about education and committed to fostering a culture of excellence across all academic areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of academic strategy and curriculum across all year groups.
  • Work collaboratively with the Headmaster and Executive Team to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the professional development of teaching and support staff.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and high academic standards.
  • Promote the school’s academic programs, including A-Levels and the International Baccalaureate, both internally and externally.
  • Contribute to the school’s co-curricular and boarding community life.
  • Ensure effective communication between academic staff, students, and parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an academic setting, ideally within a school leadership team.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and academic standards.
  • Experience in managing and leading academic teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a boarding school.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate or similar programs.
  • Demonstrated success in driving academic improvement and innovation.
  • Experience in a school with a strong co-curricular and pastoral focus.
