The Opportunity:
As Deputy Head of Academics, you will play a key role in shaping the academic vision of a school, working closely with the Headmaster to drive strategic initiatives and ensure high standards of teaching and learning. This is a leadership opportunity for someone passionate about education and committed to fostering a culture of excellence across all academic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development of academic strategy and curriculum across all year groups.
- Work collaboratively with the Headmaster and Executive Team to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and values.
- Monitor and evaluate academic performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the professional development of teaching and support staff.
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and high academic standards.
- Promote the school’s academic programs, including A-Levels and the International Baccalaureate, both internally and externally.
- Contribute to the school’s co-curricular and boarding community life.
- Ensure effective communication between academic staff, students, and parents.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in an academic setting, ideally within a school leadership team.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and academic standards.
- Experience in managing and leading academic teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a boarding school.
- Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate or similar programs.
- Demonstrated success in driving academic improvement and innovation.
- Experience in a school with a strong co-curricular and pastoral focus.
