The Opportunity:

A Food Technology Teacher is needed to inspire and educate students with autism and associated needs in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives through hands-on learning and creative teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Food Technology to students with autism and associated needs, using innovative and engaging methods.
  • Design and deliver lesson plans that meet the specific learning needs and aspirations of each student.
  • Collaborate with the therapeutic team and key workers to support individual care plans and educational goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely, detailed reports to parents, carers, and the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Uphold the school’s positive ethos and core values in all aspects of teaching and student interaction.
  • Support students in developing life skills through practical, real-world learning experiences.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development to enhance teaching practice and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher with QTS.
  • Experience teaching students with autism and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and curriculum design.
  • Ability to manage and support students with a range of complex needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience with Food Technology or related subjects.
  • Background in working within specialist SEN settings.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Passion for fostering independence and life skills in students.
