The Opportunity:
A Food Technology Teacher is needed to inspire and educate students with autism and associated needs in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives through hands-on learning and creative teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Food Technology to students with autism and associated needs, using innovative and engaging methods.
- Design and deliver lesson plans that meet the specific learning needs and aspirations of each student.
- Collaborate with the therapeutic team and key workers to support individual care plans and educational goals.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely, detailed reports to parents, carers, and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Uphold the school’s positive ethos and core values in all aspects of teaching and student interaction.
- Support students in developing life skills through practical, real-world learning experiences.
- Participate in staff training and professional development to enhance teaching practice and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher with QTS.
- Experience teaching students with autism and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and curriculum design.
- Ability to manage and support students with a range of complex needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
Preferred
- Experience with Food Technology or related subjects.
- Background in working within specialist SEN settings.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Passion for fostering independence and life skills in students.
