The Opportunity:

As a SEMH Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This role requires a passionate and dedicated educator who can build strong relationships, deliver high-quality teaching, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English and/or Maths to GCSE level, tailoring lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive, nurturing relationships with students and their families.
  • Implement a creative and engaging curriculum that supports academic and personal development.
  • Manage complex and challenging behaviours with empathy, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Participate in decision-making processes that shape the school’s academic and extra-curricular offerings.
  • Provide regular and constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Attend and contribute to training and supervision sessions to enhance professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Post Graduate Education Certificate (PGCE)
  • A proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice
  • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence skills
  • Ability to teach a subject specialism to GCSE or equivalent vocational level
  • Experience working with children with SEMH difficulties and managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience implementing a creative and academically engaging curriculum

Preferred

  • Experience of working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families
  • Experience in crisis management and therapeutic support
  • Experience in trauma-informed teaching practices
