The Opportunity:

As Deputy Head of Art and Design, you will play a pivotal role in raising standards across Art, Design, and Photography. This is an opportunity to lead and inspire within a school that values innovation, excellence, and the transformative power of education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of Art, Design, and Photography across the school.
  • Work closely with the Head of Faculty to drive improvement and raise attainment.
  • Manage and mentor a team of teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure a knowledge-rich curriculum is delivered in line with the school’s pedagogical principles.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, equity, and mutual respect among staff and students.
  • Support the school’s commitment to student success through innovative teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the leadership of the Technology faculty and its continued success.
  • Ensure all aspects of the curriculum meet the school’s vision of “challenge for all.”

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art, Design, and Photography, with a specialism in Fine Art, Graphic Communication, or Photography.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the principles of instruction and a knowledge-rich curriculum.
  • A track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Deputy Head or similar leadership role.
  • Familiarity with OFSTED requirements and school improvement strategies.
  • Experience with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and staff training.
  • Strong understanding of research-based pedagogy.
