The Opportunity:
As Deputy Head of Art and Design, you will play a pivotal role in raising standards across Art, Design, and Photography. This is an opportunity to lead and inspire within a school that values innovation, excellence, and the transformative power of education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the development of Art, Design, and Photography across the school.
- Work closely with the Head of Faculty to drive improvement and raise attainment.
- Manage and mentor a team of teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure a knowledge-rich curriculum is delivered in line with the school’s pedagogical principles.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, equity, and mutual respect among staff and students.
- Support the school’s commitment to student success through innovative teaching and learning.
- Contribute to the leadership of the Technology faculty and its continued success.
- Ensure all aspects of the curriculum meet the school’s vision of “challenge for all.”
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Art, Design, and Photography, with a specialism in Fine Art, Graphic Communication, or Photography.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to the principles of instruction and a knowledge-rich curriculum.
- A track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience in a Deputy Head or similar leadership role.
- Familiarity with OFSTED requirements and school improvement strategies.
- Experience with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and staff training.
- Strong understanding of research-based pedagogy.
