The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher, you will provide strategic leadership across curriculum development, assessment, teaching and learning, and staff development. This role is pivotal in shaping the school’s vision and ensuring a supportive, inclusive environment for all pupils and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in delivering the school’s vision and strategic direction.
  • Lead on quality assurance, school improvement planning, and compliance.
  • Deputise for the Headteacher and contribute to whole-school leadership and decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Drive high standards in teaching and learning through evidence-informed practice and monitoring.
  • Oversee whole-school assessment systems to ensure strong pupil outcomes and progress.
  • Inspire and develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for pupils and staff.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external partners to support pupil success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Proven leadership and management experience in education
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and teaching and learning strategies
  • Experience in school improvement and quality assurance
  • Ability to deputise for the Headteacher and lead whole-school initiatives
  • Valid driving licence

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Experience in safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing
  • Background in therapeutic or holistic education approaches
  • Experience with school partnerships and community engagement
