The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Year Leader, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of students. This is a key position within the pastoral team, offering the chance to make a real impact on student outcomes and contribute to the school’s ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Year Leader in delivering the academy’s vision and values to students.
  • Coordinate the wellbeing and academic progress of students within a year group.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, senior leaders, parents, and carers.
  • Work closely with tutors and other members of the pastoral team.
  • Ensure consistency in pastoral support and student engagement throughout the academic year.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports student growth and learning.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of pastoral strategies and initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external agencies and partners to support student needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Experience in supporting student wellbeing and academic progress.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a school that has undergone significant improvement.
  • Knowledge of student engagement and extra-curricular opportunities.
  • Experience with pastoral structures and team leadership.
