The Opportunity:

A school is seeking an inspiring and innovative Design and Technology Teacher to join its high-performing STEAM faculty. The role involves delivering engaging lessons in Design and Technology across middle and high school, while contributing to the development of CAD, digital fabrication, and robotics as part of a broader STEAM vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Design and Technology across middle and high school, including product design, engineering principles, and materials
  • Deliver engaging projects using CAD and 3D design tools
  • Integrate digital fabrication into student projects
  • Contribute to or support Robotics programmes
  • Embed design thinking, iterative development, and prototyping into all learning experiences
  • Develop and deliver project-based learning units aligned to real-world challenges
  • Collaborate with Art, Science, and Technology departments to deliver interdisciplinary STEAM projects
  • Support school-wide STEM/STEAM initiatives, competitions, and innovation events

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design and Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
  • PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in Design and Technology or Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software
  • Experience delivering hands-on, project-based learning
  • Familiarity with UK or US curriculum frameworks
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance

Preferred

  • Experience with robotics platforms such as LEGO Mindstorms, SPIKE Prime, or Tetrix
  • Knowledge of electronics, coding, or embedded systems
  • Experience with digital fabrication tools (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC)
  • Background in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or architecture
  • Experience integrating cross-curricular STEAM projects
  • Prior involvement in innovation, competitions, or STEM leadership initiatives
  • Passion for real-world application of design and engineering concepts
