The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Design & Technology Technician to support the delivery of high-quality learning experiences in a dynamic and innovative educational environment. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, well-organized, and fully functional workshop, ensuring that students and teachers have the resources they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe, organized, and fully functional workshop environment.
• Prepare and set up tools, equipment, and materials in advance of lessons.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions, supporting students with designing and making activities.
• Manufacture and adapt teaching aids, prototypes, and fixtures as required.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs of workshop machinery and tools.
• Support the organisation and storage of student work and materials.
• Set up and support the use of hardware, machinery, and ICT equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of tools, equipment, and materials, including stock control and ordering.
• Support departmental projects, exhibitions, and school-wide initiatives where required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Relevant qualification or certification in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience working with workshop machinery and tools (woodworking, metalworking, plastics).
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment.
• Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to manufacture and repair items.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• ICT proficiency, including MS Office and willingness to learn new systems.
• High attention to detail, particularly regarding safety and preparation.

Preferred

• Experience working in a school or educational environment.
• Knowledge or experience with CAD/CAM technologies, 3D printing, or CNC equipment.
• First Aid certification.
• Experience supporting students in practical learning environments.
• Flexible, proactive, and solution-oriented.
• Enthusiastic about supporting creative and technical education.
