The Opportunity:

As a Second in Faculty – Art & Design Technology, you will support the leadership and development of a dynamic department across all key stages. This role combines teaching responsibilities with a key leadership role, contributing to curriculum innovation and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Faculty in delivering a creative, innovative, and well-sequenced curriculum across all key stages.
  • Maintain an active teaching commitment in Art and Design Technology, ensuring high-quality learning experiences.
  • Contribute to the mentoring and development of colleagues, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Shape and deliver a rich co-curricular programme, including exhibitions, competitions, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Use technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning in Art and Design Technology.
  • Utilize assessment and data effectively to support student progress and raise achievement.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents as an excellent communicator.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture, contributing to the wider life of the school.
  • Model the school’s values and promote creativity, resilience, and collaboration.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant degree in Art, Design, or a related field, alongside a PGCE (or equivalent) and QTS.
  • Strong track record of high-quality teaching in Art and/or Design Technology with positive student outcomes.
  • Demonstrated potential to step into middle leadership and support strategic direction.
  • Experience in contributing to curriculum development and departmental leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering a co-curricular programme and organizing exhibitions or competitions.
  • Confidence in using technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and leadership progression.
  • Experience in fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
