The Opportunity:

As the Director of Finance and Operations, you will lead the strategic and operational functions of the school, ensuring financial resilience and efficient service delivery. This is a pivotal role in supporting the school’s vision and driving continuous improvement across all operational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of financial and operational strategies aligned with the school’s long-term vision.
  • Provide high-quality financial insight, planning, and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of operational services across the school.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting to support strategic planning and governance.
  • Deliver strategic oversight of estates, facilities, and outsourced services, ensuring alignment with school priorities.
  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure value for money and quality of service.
  • Provide strategic oversight of IT infrastructure and systems to support teaching, learning, and administration.
  • Lead the development of policies, procedures, and risk management processes across operational areas.
  • Manage and develop operational teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant professional qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant senior leadership experience in finance and operations.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets and resources and leading teams effectively.
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation; education sector experience desirable but not essential.

Preferred

  • Degree-level education.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into delivery.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Knowledge of compliance, risk management, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
