The Opportunity:

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and phone calls, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school at the start of its journey and make a meaningful impact on the school’s operations and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for all visitors, following safeguarding procedures and ensuring secure sign-in and sign-out processes.
  • Manage the reception desk and telephone duties, providing efficient and professional support to all callers.
  • Liaise with office suppliers and manage gate control.
  • Identify and respond to internal and external queries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Log, pass on, and follow up messages for colleagues to ensure smooth communication.
  • Operate a computer to access databases, use word processing applications, and complete basic support tasks.
  • Maintain, update, sort, and retrieve records, including monitoring and ordering stationery and office supplies.
  • Accurately file, index, and retrieve documents and records.
  • Prepare and distribute documents, reports, and presentations as required.
  • Manage post, diary, and attendance management systems for students.
  • Support the Referrals team with phone enquiries and organise assessment dates.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in an administrative role.
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to use a range of databases.
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Discreet, confidential, and reliable.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices.
  • Experience with attendance management systems.
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary team environments.
