The Opportunity:

As the Director of Sport, you will lead and inspire a high-quality, inclusive sporting programme for pupils aged 2–11. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of sport at a school as it celebrates its 120th anniversary and enters a new phase of development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive sporting programme, including Games, PE and swimming.
  • Deliver a high-quality, inclusive sporting experience for all pupils aged 2–11.
  • Inspire and motivate staff and pupils to promote participation, enjoyment, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Work closely with the school leadership team to align the sporting programme with the school’s strategic vision.
  • Ensure the programme meets the highest standards of safety, inclusivity, and engagement.
  • Support the development of staff through training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the sporting programme and make improvements where needed.
  • Promote a culture of lifelong participation in sport and physical activity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a sporting or educational setting.
  • Strong expertise in core sports and physical education.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Passion for promoting sport for all and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Experience in managing and developing sporting programmes for children aged 2–11.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and pupils.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience with curriculum development and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.
