The Opportunity:
A String Teacher (Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass) is needed to inspire and guide students across all levels of ability. This role is integral to a thriving music department and offers the chance to work with talented young musicians in a vibrant educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach individual and group lessons to students from Year 2 upwards.
- Develop and maintain a range of ensembles, including string quartets and orchestras.
- Inspire and nurture students’ musical development, from beginners to advanced players.
- Collaborate with other members of the music department to enhance the overall music program.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding progress and goals.
- Support the school’s commitment to music education through participation in performances and events.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Stay up to date with developments in string pedagogy and music education.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified and experienced string teacher with a strong background in violin, viola, cello, or double bass.
- Demonstrated ability to teach students of all abilities and ages.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and the ability to work in a UK-based educational setting.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching within a choir school or similar educational setting.
- Experience in running ensembles or orchestras.
- Knowledge of music theory and performance practice.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work within a busy and friendly music department.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate based on the 2025/26 academic year, with an increase in September 2026.
- Permanent, part-time position with PAYE employment.
