The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and inspiring Head of Religious Education or Teacher of Religious Education with leadership potential. This role offers the chance to shape the future of the department and make a meaningful impact on student learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Religious Education department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across key stages 3-5.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, innovative, and challenging RE curricula aligned with AQA and OCR syllabi.
  • Support the professional development of RE staff and foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent high standards and above-average results.
  • Promote a culture of reflection, critical thinking, and respect for diverse beliefs and ethical questions.
  • Work closely with the school leadership team and wider trust to enhance departmental and institutional outcomes.
  • Provide pastoral and academic guidance to students, encouraging personal growth and intellectual curiosity.
  • Represent the department in school events and external partnerships.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education or a related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge of RE at key stages 3-5.
  • Commitment to high-quality teaching and student-centered learning.
  • Experience in leading or managing a department or team (for Head of RE role).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
  • Passion for inspiring and engaging students in RE.

Preferred

  • Experience in leadership roles within a school or multi-academy trust.
  • Experience with AQA and OCR syllabi at GCSE and A Level.
  • Background in teacher training or early career support.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in curriculum development or CPD delivery.
