The Opportunity:

Join a school seeking an experienced EAL Teacher to support students across the secondary phase in achieving their full potential. This role involves delivering high-quality EAL provision and preparing students for external language assessments such as IELTS Academic and EAL IGCSE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare students for external language assessments including IELTS Academic, ESL and EAL IGCSE
  • Develop and implement Individual Language Plans tailored to student needs
  • Monitor student progress and conduct regular review meetings with parents
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that support a range of language abilities
  • Assess, record and report on student progress to ensure strong outcomes
  • Support students across the curriculum, including late entrants and those with varying levels of English proficiency
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes wellbeing and achievement
  • Participate in co-curricular activities, school events and ongoing professional development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics or a related field
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE (EAL specialism desirable)
  • A minimum of two years’ experience teaching EAL learners in an academic setting
  • Proven experience preparing students for IELTS Academic and EAL/ESL examinations
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiation

Preferred

  • A Master’s in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
  • Experience within a British curriculum school
