As an EAL Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with English as an Additional Language. You will develop individual learning programmes, provide in-class support, and lead professional development for staff. Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and assess students needing EAL support upon entry to the school.
• Differentiate instruction and provide resources that reflect the linguistic diversity of students.
• Develop individual and group learning programmes for EAL learners at varying levels of English development.
• Liaise with class teachers to ensure progression and continuity in learning.
• Provide in-service training to staff on strategies to support EAL students in the classroom.
• Monitor and record student progress, setting targets and reporting to class teachers.
• Support students in the classroom and through targeted group interventions.
• Celebrate cultural diversity and build partnerships with parents and the wider community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Experience in coordinating and monitoring the achievement of EAL learners.
• Evidence of teaching EAL students and developing individual or group support programmes.
• Knowledge of using language levels to identify and assess EAL learners.
• Experience in raising EAL student achievement and supporting bilingual learners.
• Experience teaching in a multicultural environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, be proactive, and manage time effectively under pressure.

Preferred

• Experience in leading professional development activities for staff and parents.
• Experience in building reading, grammar, spelling, and writing skills into weekly planning.
• Experience in using sensory and interactive methods to teach EAL students.
• Experience in developing subject-related vocabulary with EAL learners.
