Key Responsibilities:
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in line with national child protection guidance and legislation.
- Create a supportive and caring environment that encourages self-esteem, confidence, and respect for others.
- Support children in developing self-help skills, personal care, and communication through play and interaction.
- Act as a key person for a group of children, ensuring they feel secure and supported in their learning.
- Encourage development in curricular areas and work collaboratively with specialist teachers.
- Support children in preparing and participating in meals, identifying social and developmental opportunities.
- Use ICT to support learning and record children's progress through electronic systems.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of the curriculum and support children on school outings and bus runs.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and hygienic environment for children and support their basic needs when injured or unwell.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, and work in a collegiate manner with other members of the Nursery team.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience working with young children in an educational or care setting.
- Commitment to child safeguarding and welfare, with knowledge of Scottish legislation and guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on rotational duties.
- Flexibility to work term time plus and during Holiday Club periods.
Preferred
- Experience in early years education or childcare.
- Knowledge of child development and nurturing approaches.
- Experience with the use of ICT in early years settings.
- Experience in supporting children with additional needs or learning plans.
- Experience in outdoor learning and play-based education.
