Full -Time Equivalent (FTE) Salary is £24,000.56 per annum. Actual salary will be pro-rata to reflect hours of work and Term Time Plus.

The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in line with national child protection guidance and legislation.
  • Create a supportive and caring environment that encourages self-esteem, confidence, and respect for others.
  • Support children in developing self-help skills, personal care, and communication through play and interaction.
  • Act as a key person for a group of children, ensuring they feel secure and supported in their learning.
  • Encourage development in curricular areas and work collaboratively with specialist teachers.
  • Support children in preparing and participating in meals, identifying social and developmental opportunities.
  • Use ICT to support learning and record children's progress through electronic systems.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the curriculum and support children on school outings and bus runs.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and hygienic environment for children and support their basic needs when injured or unwell.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, and work in a collegiate manner with other members of the Nursery team.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience working with young children in an educational or care setting.
  • Commitment to child safeguarding and welfare, with knowledge of Scottish legislation and guidance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on rotational duties.
  • Flexibility to work term time plus and during Holiday Club periods.

Preferred

  • Experience in early years education or childcare.
  • Knowledge of child development and nurturing approaches.
  • Experience with the use of ICT in early years settings.
  • Experience in supporting children with additional needs or learning plans.
  • Experience in outdoor learning and play-based education.
