The Opportunity:
As an Engage Instructor, you will deliver tailored education programmes to students aged 8–18 with special educational needs, helping them re-engage with learning and build confidence. This role is ideal for those passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualised English and Maths sessions (up to Level 2) within the Engage programme.
- Support pupils accessing alternative or off-site provision, including college placements, and provide coaching to promote engagement.
- Develop and maintain Individual Education Plans, risk assessments, timetables, and pupil records.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, external agencies, and school colleagues to coordinate bespoke programmes.
- Promote pupils’ personal development and positive participation within the wider school community.
- Adhere strictly to safeguarding, child protection, and home visit procedures.
- Contribute to meetings, departmental development, and whole-school priorities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE Maths and English
- Experience working with young people who find education challenging
- Confidence delivering academic and vocational learning on a one-to-one basis
- Strong IT skills, including use of databases and common software programmes
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes
Preferred
- Experience in therapeutic or alternative education settings
- Knowledge of special educational needs and mental health support
- Experience in developing and implementing individualised learning plans
