Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a challenging and engaging curriculum.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Coordinate examination processes and monitor student progress to ensure academic success.
  • Play a key role in Oxbridge and UCAS preparation for students.
  • Manage the departmental budget and resources effectively.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good honours degree in English.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and ICT skills.
  • Demonstrable classroom experience and a commitment to academic excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with the IB Diploma, A-levels, and BTEC qualifications.
  • Experience in supporting students with Oxbridge and UCAS applications.
  • A passion for English and a commitment to innovative teaching practices.
