The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Gardener to maintain the school’s gardens and horticultural areas to a high standard throughout the year. This role is essential in ensuring the campus remains a beautiful and welcoming environment for students and staff alike. The Gardener will work closely with other department members to deliver consistent and high-quality horticultural maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain gardens and horticultural areas to a high standard throughout the year.
  • Work in collaboration with other department members to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Follow a rota to undertake work on Saturdays, approximately nine mornings per annum.
  • Ensure all horticultural tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Keep the grounds clean, safe, and visually appealing.
  • Use and maintain gardening tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Support the school’s commitment to sustainability and environmental care.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in gardening and horticulture.
  • Strong knowledge of plant care, pruning, and general garden maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard hours, including Saturdays.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of work and appearance.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainable gardening practices.
  • First aid or health and safety training.
  • Experience with landscape design or maintenance.
