The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join our dedicated team and support pupils in Years 5 to 8. This is a maternity cover role, starting in September 2026, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on young learners within a dynamic and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire and challenge pupils across Years 5 to 8.
  • Create engaging and inclusive learning experiences that foster a love of reading, writing, and communication.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that support individual and group learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive and supportive school culture.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community through regular communication and involvement in events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching English to pupils aged 9 to 13.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Experience in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school with a strong emphasis on values and character development.
  • Familiarity with teaching in a boarding environment.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and assessment.
  • Ability to contribute to extra-curricular activities and school events.
