Summary:

Groundsperson required at a school with extensive sports and horticultural areas.

The Opportunity:

As a Groundsperson, you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of sports facilities, landscaped areas, and the wider estate to the highest standards. This role is essential in ensuring that the school's outdoor spaces are well-maintained and ready for use by students, staff, and external lettings throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and prepare sports pitches and outdoor spaces through mowing, aeration, fertilising, line marking, and renovations.
  • Ensure the upkeep of landscaped areas and the wider estate to a high standard.
  • Support the delivery of school events, fixtures, and external lettings by preparing and maintaining facilities.
  • Work as part of the Grounds Team to develop and improve the school's sports and horticultural areas.
  • Adhere to a rota that includes working on Saturdays approximately nine times a year.
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure all outdoor spaces remain in excellent condition.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the smooth running of school events and activities.
  • Follow safety and environmental standards in all aspects of ground maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in ground maintenance, sports pitch preparation, and horticultural work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Experience with the use of ground maintenance equipment and machinery.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and appearance.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within an educational institution or sports facility.
  • Knowledge of horticultural practices and plant care.
  • Experience with event support and external lettings.
  • Flexibility to work a rota that includes some weekend work.
  • Previous experience with sports facilities or landscaping projects.
