The Opportunity:
As Head of Chemistry, you will lead and develop the chemistry curriculum within the Science Department, inspiring students to achieve their best while supporting colleagues and contributing to the overall success of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the chemistry curriculum for Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
- Inspire and motivate students of varying abilities to achieve academic excellence in chemistry
- Support and collaborate with colleagues across departments to enhance teaching and learning
- Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure high standards of achievement
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Science Department and school-wide initiatives
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment aligned with the school’s values
- Participate in professional development and continuous improvement of teaching practices
- Manage and mentor junior staff where applicable
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualifications in Chemistry or Science Education
- Strong passion for teaching chemistry at Key Stage 4 and A level
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to motivate and engage students with varying abilities
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues across departments
Preferred
- Basic leadership skills or enthusiasm for developing leadership capabilities
- Experience in curriculum development or departmental leadership
- Experience with continuous professional development
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies
