The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design and Technology, you will lead the department and inspire students with high-quality teaching and a focus on innovation. This is a key leadership role that shapes the future of design and technology education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and technology curriculum to ensure excellence in student learning and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance teaching and learning in design and technology.
  • Provide professional development and support to department staff to maintain high standards of teaching.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement in design and technology.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate design and technology across the curriculum.
  • Ensure the department meets all statutory and school requirements for safeguarding and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, creativity, and excellence in design and technology.
  • Represent the department in school-wide meetings and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in design and technology.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in design and technology.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in design and technology education.
  • Experience in working within an academy trust or multi-academy trust.
  • Ability to integrate cross-curricular links and promote STEM learning.
