The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Design and Technology/Art Technician to support the delivery of practical lessons and ensure a safe and inspiring learning environment. This role is essential in maintaining the school’s high standards of teaching and student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain resources and equipment for Design and Technology/Art lessons.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering practical activities and demonstrations.
  • Ensure all risk assessments and health and safety protocols are up to date and followed.
  • Assist learners and staff in Design and Technology/Art lessons as directed by whole school initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Design Teaching team and other support staff to enhance the learning experience.
  • Maintain a calm and respectful environment that promotes student engagement and success.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the school’s innovative and employer-led curriculum.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a similar technician role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of Design and Technology/Art processes and equipment.
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures and complete risk assessments.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to working in a positive and respectful environment.
  • Willingness to support the school’s mission and vision.

Preferred

  • Experience working with young people in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of current curriculum standards and teaching practices.
  • Experience with T-levels or project-based learning.
  • Familiarity with employer-led education initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
