Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student attainment and engagement.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of teaching staff and provide professional development support.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic priorities.
- Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, and high expectations across the curriculum area.
- Support student behavior and safety within the English department.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular links and enrichment opportunities.
- Ensure the effective use of resources and facilities to support teaching and learning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
- Proven track record in improving student outcomes in English.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
Preferred
- Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of current educational trends and initiatives.
- Experience in staff development and mentoring.
- Familiarity with the use of digital tools in teaching and learning.
