The Opportunity:

As the Head of English Faculty, you will lead a dynamic and high-achieving department, driving excellence in teaching and learning. You will play a key role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring that all students achieve their full potential, regardless of their starting point.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English Faculty to ensure consistent high standards in teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing strategies to improve outcomes for all learners.
  • Work closely with colleagues to support staff development and share best practices across the school.
  • Develop and maintain a robust and innovative English curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Represent the faculty in meetings and contribute to the strategic direction of the school.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Manage and support the professional development of English staff within the school and across the trust.
  • Ensure that all assessments and examinations are conducted effectively and in line with school and trust policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or academy setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English, with a track record of delivering outstanding student outcomes.
  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership of a faculty or department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience of working within a multi-academy trust or similar collaborative environment.
  • Experience with leading staff training and professional development programs.
  • A track record of driving improvement and innovation in teaching and learning practices.
  • Experience in managing and leading large teams of teachers and support staff.
