The Opportunity:
As the Head of Science Department, you will lead and inspire a team of science teachers, shaping the curriculum for students from Year 7 to Year 13. This role offers the chance to drive academic excellence and support staff development, making a meaningful impact on student achievement and departmental growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring a high-quality, coherent curriculum.
- Inspire and support colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and modelling best practice.
- Develop and enhance subject knowledge and pedagogy across all year groups.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent improvement and high standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of high-quality resources and teaching strategies.
- Represent the department at senior leadership meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and welfare policies, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject expertise in Science.
- Proven experience in a middle leadership role within a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of Science curriculum and pedagogy at all key stages.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with Catholic ethos and values.
- Experience in developing and delivering CPD programs.
- Strong track record in improving student outcomes and attainment.
