The Opportunity:

As the Head of English, you will lead the English Department and play a key role in shaping the academic and cultural life of the school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to influence teaching and learning at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the English Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages
• Oversee the creation and implementation of engaging and rigorous schemes of work from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level
• Manage and review the English curriculum, ensuring its impact and effectiveness
• Support the organization of trips, academic societies, and events to promote English and enhance student engagement
• Oversee risk assessment, safeguarding, and library management within the English Department
• Monitor and advise on academic data, assessment, reporting, and student progress

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• A relevant degree and successful teaching experience
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Ability to inspire confidence and respect among colleagues, pupils, and parents
• High level of administrative efficiency and communication
• Commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and emotional intelligence
• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to see the 'big picture'

Preferred

• Experience in curriculum development and academic policy
