The Opportunity:

As the Head of Humanities, you will lead and inspire a team of educators, shaping the future of humanities education at the High/Secondary School level. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence curriculum development, drive student engagement, and foster a culture of excellence and innovation within a forward-thinking international school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Social Sciences department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all Humanities subjects
  • Oversee and support the professional development of teaching staff
  • Coordinate and contribute to the planning and delivery of the Humanities curriculum
  • Promote student engagement and achievement through innovative teaching strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching standards and student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning
  • Represent the Humanities department in school-wide initiatives and events
  • Develop and implement assessment strategies aligned with UK curriculum standards

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience within the UK curriculum
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proven ability to motivate students and colleagues
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or subject leadership role
  • Familiarity with international education standards and practices
  • Strong knowledge of Social Sciences and Humanities subjects
  • Experience with student-centered learning approaches
  • Fluency in additional languages, such as French, German, or Spanish
