The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative English lessons that inspire students and promote academic excellence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s academic strategy and vision.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, ensuring their overall wellbeing and success.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote the importance of English education.
  • Participate in professional development and training to maintain and enhance teaching standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • British teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience, preferably in a UK independent or international school.
  • Strong leadership and management experience within an academic department.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with British independent education standards.
  • Experience with international or multicultural student environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting other teachers.
