The Opportunity:

The Head of Faculty - Humanities and Social Science will lead a dynamic and strategic academic team, shaping the curriculum and driving excellence in teaching and learning across all key stages. This is a pivotal role in a school that values innovation, inclusivity, and high academic standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a clear academic vision aligned with school and group standards.
  • Lead the articulation of a progressive curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Post-16 pathways.
  • Monitor and review attainment and progress across all subject areas and student groups.
  • Oversee the design, sequencing, and quality of curriculum documentation and assessments.
  • Promote high-impact teaching practices including differentiation, technology integration, and formative assessment.
  • Use data from CEM and standardised assessments to inform target setting and intervention planning.
  • Provide leadership and support to faculty staff, including mentoring and professional development.
  • Collaborate with pastoral and support teams to ensure inclusive and challenging learning experiences for all students.
  • Lead enrichment opportunities such as fieldwork, debating, and cultural visits.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in History, Geography, or a related Humanities field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience in Humanities or Social Sciences.
  • Experience with Pearson Edexcel or Cambridge International qualifications (IGCSE and AS/A Level).
  • Proven leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3, and Post-16 pathways.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching BML, EAL, or SEN learners.
  • Experience in overseas schools or international education settings.
  • Demonstrated interest in curriculum design, inquiry-based learning, and STEM integration.
  • Experience with data analysis and academic systems thinking.
