The Opportunity:

The Head of Faculty - Science, Mathematics, Innovation and STEM will provide strategic leadership across a wide range of subjects, shaping a progressive and innovative curriculum for students from Year 4 to Year 13. This role is central to driving academic standards and ensuring a strong focus on STEM education across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate a clear academic vision aligned with school priorities and group standards.
  • Lead the vertical articulation of the curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Post-16 pathways.
  • Set, monitor, and review attainment and progress targets across all student groups.
  • Oversee the design and review of schemes of work in Science, Mathematics, and STEM disciplines.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in curriculum documentation and planning.
  • Promote high-impact teaching methods such as inquiry-based learning and STEM integration.
  • Monitor teaching quality through lesson observations and feedback.
  • Analyse assessment data to inform target setting and intervention planning.
  • Lead staff development and support Early Career Teachers through mentoring and coaching.
  • Support enrichment opportunities such as STEM competitions and innovation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and assessment policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
  • Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience in one of these disciplines.
  • Experience with Pearson Edexcel or Cambridge International (IGCSE and AS/A Level).
  • Experience leading or coordinating staff.
  • Strong understanding of the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and Post-16 pathways.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching BML, EAL, or SEN learners.
  • Experience in overseas schools.
  • Passion for STEM education and curriculum design.
  • Strong interest in data-informed academic strategy.
