The Opportunity:

As the Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the financial strategy of the school and foundation. This leadership position offers the opportunity to influence key financial decisions and lead a dynamic team in a forward-thinking educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with audit, regulatory, and capital planning requirements.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support executive and governor-level decision-making.
  • Develop and inspire the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Manage and monitor financial performance, ensuring alignment with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Support the Director of Finance and Operations in the development and implementation of long-term financial plans.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and financial advisors.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources to support the school’s mission and educational objectives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant senior-level experience in financial management, ideally within the education or charitable sector.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record in strategic financial planning.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, insightful financial analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in the independent school or charitable sector.
  • Familiarity with educational finance systems and processes.
  • Experience in managing large-scale budgets and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of financial compliance and audit procedures.
