The Opportunity:
As the Head of Humanities, you will lead and inspire a team of educators, shaping a curriculum that reflects the school’s commitment to excellence and student growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Humanities department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
- Support and mentor teachers to enhance pedagogical practice and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Oversee and contribute to the planning, delivery, and assessment of Humanities courses at GCSE and A level.
- Engage with students, parents, and the wider school community to promote the value of Humanities education.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Contribute to the development of extracurricular and community-based initiatives that enrich student learning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor of Education or a Bachelor’s degree with PGCE / PGDE in Geography/History.
- Proven experience teaching Humanities to GCSE and A level students.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching practice and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents.
- A track record of delivering outstanding learning and teaching outcomes.
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership role within a school or educational institution.
- Familiarity with international curricula and best practices in education.
- A passion for fostering student engagement and a creative approach to teaching and learning.
