As the Head of Maths, you will play a key role in leading and developing the Maths department, driving improvements in student achievement and teacher effectiveness. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Maths department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and progress in Maths.
  • Support and mentor staff within the department to enhance teaching standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate Maths into wider curriculum initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Represent the department in meetings and discussions with senior leadership.
  • Ensure that all teaching and learning activities align with the school's vision and goals.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Maths education and incorporate best practices into departmental planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Maths education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school department.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and attainment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with the Northern Education Trust and its values.
  • Experience in leading departmental improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and pedagogical approaches in Maths.
