The Opportunity:
As the Head of Maths, you will play a key role in leading and developing the Maths department, driving improvements in student achievement and teacher effectiveness. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Maths department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and progress in Maths.
- Support and mentor staff within the department to enhance teaching standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate Maths into wider curriculum initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance, providing targeted support where needed.
- Represent the department in meetings and discussions with senior leadership.
- Ensure that all teaching and learning activities align with the school's vision and goals.
- Stay up to date with developments in Maths education and incorporate best practices into departmental planning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Maths education.
- Proven leadership experience in a school department.
- Strong track record in improving student outcomes and attainment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Familiarity with the Northern Education Trust and its values.
- Experience in leading departmental improvement projects.
- Knowledge of current educational research and pedagogical approaches in Maths.
